Ingleside OKs $5,000 for base group
Council also will accept federal funds for effort

CORPUS CHRISTI - The group charged with redeveloping surplus property at Naval Station Ingleside received $5,000 on Tuesday from the Ingleside City Council and might get another $15,000 in the next week.

Ingleside council members voted 5-1 to grant the Ingleside Local Redevelopment Authority the money. The Corpus Christi City Council and Nueces and San Patricio County commissioners courts are expected to discuss and vote on contributing $5,000 each next week, officials said.

The Ingleside council also voted 5-1 to accept the role of grantee for the redevelopment group. This means the city would be the holder of any federal funds allocated to the group.
