These bases were in the "country" when they were established - the suburbs came to them!

[Somehow the Navy and Marines managed to locate many of their air
stations in suburbs where there have been major debates about whether
they should continue as airfields after closure. The Willow Grove debate
follows in the tradition of Glenview (IL), Moffett and El Toro (CA),
