Sprott leaving naval RDA director's post

Jack Sprott, the man who led the Charleston Naval Complex Redevelopment
Authority for the past 10 years, will step down Jan. 20 to take a
similar position in Atlanta to help redevelop the Army's Fort McPherson,
which made the last base closure list.

The RDA immediately on Tuesday named its economic development director,
Robert Ryan, as interim executive director.

Sprott, 58, said his experience in redeveloping the old Navy base will
go a long way toward his new duties with Fort McPherson Planning Local
Redevelopment Authority, which begins Jan. 23.
