[CPEO-IRF] DOD plans BRAC conference Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in Baltimore

The Defense Department is planning a conference on BRAC 2005 November
28-December 1 in Baltimore:


"PURPOSE OF BRAC 2005 CONFERENCE:

"The OSD/Military Services/Community Conference presents state and local
officials with helpful perspectives for responding to the anticipated
growth or downsizing actions arising from the 2005 Base Realignment and
Closure (BRAC 05) process. 

"CONTENT OF DISCUSSION: 

Attendees will gain these perspectives through interactive sessions with
leaders from the Department of Defense (DoD), Military Departments, and
other Federal agencies. Additionally, local officials who have
previously responded to these changes will be available to discuss their
experiences and share advice for being successful. The content will
present DoD policies for carrying out BRAC 2005; several
"roll-up-your-sleeves" workshops on issues ranging from the creation and
recognition of a Local Redevelopment Authority to managing growth in
response to military expansion; worker adjustment assistance; and an
overview of available federal resources to assist in responding to the
impacts of BRAC. There will be specific tracts to support communities
experiencing downsizing as well as growth as a result of the BRAC 05 process."
