Base closure could mean new beginnings for Athens

Athens still has a "very slim chance" of keeping the Navy Supply Corps School - but if the Classic City does lose its base, officials must think big, the president of the Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Foundation said Monday.

"It's not over 'til it's over," Drew Page told economic development foundation members, but if Athens loses the Navy school, officials "need to think about what's best in the long term."
