Commissioner sour on housing developments at Willow Grove

Allentown Morning Call (PA)
May 19, 2005

Montgomery County's first priority is to keep the Willow Grove Naval Air Station open, but if the base closes, it would be a mistake to open up the site to housing developments, the commissioner chairman said Thursday.

Real estate developers are already salivating at the prospect of 1,100 acres of prime suburban Philadelphia land land opening up. The base in Montgomery County is one of 13 military facilities in the state targeted for closure by the Pentagon.
