New Milford to review solar panel plan for Century Brass site that could bring in millions By Kaitlin Keane New Haven Register May 18, 2025 NEW MILFORD — A major solar array could be installed on the former Century Brass property where the new Public Works facility will be built, which could save New Milfordmillions in energy costs and earn millions in revenue. “The Century Brass site is such an interesting site because it’s a brownfield site,” said John Guth, founder of the New York-based Guth DeConzo Consulting Engineers. “What better thing could you do than put renewable energy on it?” Guth presented a proposal at the New Milford Town Council meeting on May 12 to install solar panels on the existing concrete slab on the property at 12 Scovill St. and on the roof of the new Public Works facility to create a “carbon negative site.” Solar panels on the roof would supply power directly to the Public Works facility’s operations, producing “61.7 million kilowatt hours of 100% clean energy" over the panels' 30-year warranty period, Guth said. The panels would be designed as “high-resiliency equipment engineered to withstand extreme events,” he said. … For the entire article, see https://www.nhregister.com/newmilford/article/new-milford-century-brass-solar-array-proposal-dpw-20326727.php — Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight A project of the Pacific Studies Center LSiegel@cpeo.org P.O.
