Light industrial developer buys Hazel Park Raceway property

The same company that bought a section of the Hazel Park Raceway’s massive parking lot nearly three years ago has now purchased the rest of raceway, which permanently -- and suddenly -- closed last month.

The company plans to build two more light-industrial buildings on the 95 acres of the raceway grounds, with the first expected to be roughly the size of the Tri-County building or somewhat larger, Klobucher said.

“Because of the (contamination) the land is not suitable for any type of residential development there,” Klobucher said.
