$1.3 million brownfield cleanup plan approved for Peabody’s site

A $1.3 million brownfield cleanup plan was approved for the Peabody’s Restaurant property, clearing the path for the possible redevelopment of the site.

The family-owned restaurant is located at 34965 Woodward Ave., just south of Maple Road in downtown Birmingham. The Southfield-based Alden Development Group wants to develop a five-story building on the property that will include two floors of residential, plus office and retail space and two floors of underground parking.

But first, the site needs to be cleaned up.
