Millis: Air quality testing to continue at Clyde Brown

MILLIS — About 80 concerned parents attended a public forum Sunday to discuss air quality concerns at Clyde Brown Elementary School and to learn why the school was closed from Feb. 22-25.

Results from initial air quality test taken on Feb. 4 showed the presence of trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in amounts that were above health-based guidelines. TCE and PCE are solvents used to remove grease from metal parts, or as spot removers in dry cleaning and textile processes.

According to a statement from Millis public schools, the air sampling was initially performed because of leaks in the roof at the school. Due to the roof leaks, mold testing was done to ensure no mold concerns existed.
