Geneva's north end gets Brownfield designations

GENEVA - Six sites have been designated for inclusion in the city’s North End Brownfield Opportunity Area.

The sites consist of 430 acres of old industrial and residential areas and were recently announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state Department of State.

The designated areas are the former Geneva Foundry, the former Market Basket property, the former Joe’s Service Station on North Street, the northeast corner of Exchange and North streets, a vacant cluster of properties on Middle Street and an inactive elevated railroad line.

The 430 acres are in an area from the north boundary to Seneca Lake and Genesee Street to the eastern boundary.
