Dormant industrial sites targeted for assistance

Two long-dormant Binghamton-area industrial sites have been designated for sweeping redevelopment assistance by New York as a part of a brownfield opportunity program.

The two Broome County sites are among 11 across the state designated for assistance Thursday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Potential hazards on site and underground have long limited the potential redevelopment of the so-called "Endicott Johnson Industrial Spine" in Johnson City and the "Brandywine Corridor" in Binghamton, also commonly known as the Stow site.
