Subject: [CPEO-BIF] Slides from Vapor Intrusion Webinar

The slides from the October 30, 2014 Defense Department (SERDP-ESTCP) webinar on vapor intrusion assessment are now available on line at https://www.serdp-estcp.org/Tools-and-Training/Webinar-Series/10-30-2014. Just click on "Presentation File" to download the 5.8 MB PDF file.

Tom McHugh of GSI Environmental make a strong case for testing indoor air concentrations early in any vapor intrusion investigation, and he carefully explained a series of strategies for distinguishing subsurface-to-indoor-air contamination from detections of toxic substances from other sources.

Paul Johnson from Arizona State University updated the sampling results from his office's test home in Utah. Once again, he pointed out that infrequent tests of indoor air have a high potential for false negatives. He also explained that the land drain under this hillside home may have been the source of some unusual sampling results.
