Testing for Toxic Vapor Complete for 90 Percent of Properties in Como Neighborhood

Testing has been completed for more than 90 percent of the properties that needed sampling for the presence of a toxic vapor in the Minneapolis Como neighborhood.

A total of 182 properties are participating in the study by General Mills. 166 homes and buildings have now been sampled. One-third of those properties, or 55 properties, have been found to have trichloroethylene (TCE ) levels below the very protective screening threshold set by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

Approximately two-thirds, or 111, of the properties sampled have been offered vapor ventilation systems at General Mills’ expense. Of the 111 properties offered ventilation systems, nearly two-thirds, or 69 properties, already have their systems installed, with additional installations being completed weekly.
