EPA to supervise long awaited cleanup at Admiral site in South Carolina By Rob Pavey Augusta Chronicle (GA) December 7, 2012 EPA: Details of cleanup area and planned actionsAfter more than a decade of planning and study, the removal of contaminated soil at a Williston, S.C., industrial site will begin next week. The project at the Admi ral Home Appliances Su per fund Alternative Site will take about three weeks, according to the U.S. Environ mental Protection Agency, which is supervising the cleanup along with the state Department of Health & Environmental Control. Whirlpool Corp.âs contractors will perform the work, which involves excavation and disposal of contaminated soil from under a small portion of the parking lot at the main plant building.
