Geothermal wells drilled in Brady District

A drilling rig is up and running in the Brady Arts District on the site of the planned Park on Brady, boring 120 holes for 500-foot-deep geothermal wells that will heat and help cool the Tulsa Paper Co. and Hardesty Arts Center.

Construction of the geothermal field is funded by a $2.5 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Energy Demand Reduction grant and a $200,000 Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Brownfield Development grant.

The geothermal field is part of a larger $110.5 million investment in the Brady Arts and Greenwood districts, with $53.1 million coming from the George Kaiser Family Foundation and the remaining $57.4 million from various other sources.
