Remedy proposed for Town of Poughkeepsie Brownfield site

POUGHKEEPSIE - The State Department of Environmental Conservation has 
set a 45 day comment period from September 13 to October 28 on a 
proposed Brownfield site contamination cleanup plan.

The less than three acre site at 28 IBM Road in the Town of 
Poughkeepsie, was used as a gas station from 1953 to 1973. The site was 
purchased by Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. in 1991. Now known as the 
Former Drive & Park, Inc. site, it was accepted into the state 
Brownfield Cleanup Program in 2004.

Investigation by the DEC and state Department of health found the site 
poses no significant threat to human health or the environment.
