City gets $1.8M to clean up Textron site GARY HUFFENBERGER Wilmington News Journal (OH) July 21, 2010The City of Wilmington has been awarded a $1.85 million brownfield revitalization grant from the state, enabling it to clean up and acquire the vacated Kautex Textron property on South Nelson Avenue.
Though the older part of the once-thriving Randall Company manufacturing plant probably will be demolished, a newer 100,000-square-foot building on the site will not come down, Wilmington Mayor David Raizk said Wednesday. He hopes the building will attract interest from employers.
"It has high ceilings. It is one of the few buildings in town with high ceilings, and is in excellent condition," added Raizk.
There also may be some office space left from the Kautex Textron facilities that the City might utilize, for example, for the Wilmington Service Department.
