TRENTON: Students gather to celebrate wetland restoration at refuge By Anne Sullivan Southgate News Herald (MI) December 5, 2009TRENTON - Anthony Brinson had a chance Wednesday to see how his class work applies to the real world. The 16-year-old junior at Carlson High School in Gibraltar has studied the environment in his science classes. He was a visitor with many of his chemistry and biology classmates to the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. ...The daylighting and wetland restoration is a project that has cleaned up a brownfield site, restored wetlands, treated storm water and provided for environmental education, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano said. The brownfield site had been a Chrysler paint factory, but it now is a home for habitat restoration in the only international wildlife refuge in the United States, he said. ...
