Ideas flow for IH site at brownfield planning session

A noon-hour brainstorming session to work on developing a vision for the 
old International Harvester site was held Tuesday at the Historic Depot 
in Canton.

Heinze asked what the objective should be for the IH site -- to bring in 
new money, create new jobs, increase TIF (tax increment finance) 
district income, improve the appearance of the area?

Ritschel said as a newcomer, he viewed the site as an eyesore, like a 
bombed-out area. A newcomer might wonder how long it has been this way 
and when it might change. He added this is probably a touchy subject for 
some long-time local residents.
