Granholm Announces Brownfield Redevelopments in Dowagiac, Whitehall
New Uses Founded for Former Tannery and Middle School

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced two brownfield redevelopment
projects that are expected to create 10 jobs and involve $55.6 million in
private investment. The projects in the West Michigan communities of
Dowagiac and Whitehall are resulting from assistance provided by the
Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

"These new developments will transform underutilized sites into community
hubs buzzing with recreational and professional activity," Granholm said.
"Investments like these are essential to job creation and the
revitalization of cities around the state."

Gestamp US HardTech to Expand in Mason, Add 348 New Michigan Jobs
Automotive Manufacturer Chooses Michigan for $74 Million Investment

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced Gestamp US HardTech Inc.
plans to invest $74 million to expand its operations in Mason, including
the manufacture of a new line of safety products. The project will create
348 new jobs, including 150 directly by the company. Assistance offered
through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation helped convince the
company to choose Michigan instead of a competing site in Alabama.

"Michigan?s comprehensive economic plan - the most aggressive of any state
in the nation - continues to produce results," Granholm said. "Gestamp US
HardTech's decision to invest in Michigan is further evidence that our
economic plan is working because Michigan has a highly-skilled workforce
and a business-friendly environment."
