Mayor optimistic about growth of brownfield incentives

Though brownfield reclamation and development may be a new concept, it is evolving quickly, according to Maysville Mayor David Cartmell.

Cartmell, the president of the National Brownfield Association Kentucky Chapter, spoke recently at Morehead State University regarding city, state and federal incentives for brownfield redevelopment. Brownfields are described as any industrial site which has been closed or abandoned.

Cartmell reviewed some of the incentives available to property owners of brownfield sites, discussing different types of grants and loans available, including CDBG grants, small business administration loans, as well as others.
